Sage Singer befriends an old man who's particularly beloved in her community. Josef Weber is everyone's favorite retired teacher and Little League coach. MY REVIEW
What I liked about this story... Now this was a very interesting read. The one thing I have always loved about Jodi Picoult is that no matter what book of hers you pick up you know that by the end of the very last page you are going to have a question in your mind. What side of the fence do you sit? There is always an underlying moral question in each of her books where you are asked to 'pick a side'? With The Storyteller we follow Sage who meets and becomes friends with Josef, an older guy has a very big secret. You have Josef who was a Nazi and is asking to die and then you have Sage who is Jewish and whose grandmother was a Holocaust survivor. Right from the start I knew which side of the fence I was on. This story tested me in places but ultimately I did not change my mind.
What I didn't like about this story... The ending. I didn't agree with the ending. The choice that Sage made I believed was a mistake. Despite that, this book was amazing.
